Have a cup of tea and enjoy reading about the journey, since we’ll be hopping from one side of the Old Continent (where we were during the last series), to the opposite one! Barcelona and Lisbon, here we come!
To tell you the truth, wasn’t sure how to write the Barcelona/Lisbon trip experiences of mine, since we all know everything there is to know about these two European cities, right? All of us have those photos from Park Guell or Sagrada Familia, and we all cruised the streets of Lisbon in that yellow tram car. But then again – Gaudi was one of the main reasons I even went to Barcelona! And the charm of those narrow, steep, cobblestone streets of Lisbon is something I will always remember!
And so, I have decided to write one anecdote accompanied by an article in a series, and to try to describe the impression of these two amazing cities – the one that I had. There is a saying (very true in my opinion), that “the truth lies in the eye of the beholder”. So, this time I invite you to see Barcelona and Lisbon through my eyes, and to meet Antoni Gaudi and Vasco da Gama the way I have “met” them.
About half of the monthly series is dedicated to Spain’s Barcelona and the other half to Portugal’s Lisbon (all links are placed below). The only reason that one comes after the other is that I have arrived to Barcelona first, flying to Lisbon five days later, and then going back to Barcelona to catch a flight home. The stories are thus in chronological order.
Ready? Well then, let’s go and visit these two amazing cities together!
