There are few more places around Uzice town in Western Serbia one should visit. If you keep driving towards Tara Mountain, you will reach the Mokra Gora area, famous for Emir Kusturica’s Drvengrad, the old train route and the Serbian clairvoyant family. On the other side of the town there is also a small settlement called Kosjeric with its rural tourism. Such variety! (more…)

WEEKEND IN SERBIA: Tara Mountain, things to do

Nature was so generous to Western Serbia that it covered it in lush forests, torrential springs and picturesque mountains. Such is the Tara Mountain! They say that those who visit once tend to keep coming again and again. People seem to be captivated by the surroundings with typical regional features and yet so specific that it cannot be compared to any other mountain in Serbia. (more…)

WEEKEND IN SERBIA: Things to do in Zlatibor
WEEKEND IN SERBIA: Things to do in Zlatibor

Zlatibor Mountain is among the most popular tourist destinations in Serbia and there’s a reason for that. Still, there are visitors who don’t leave the center of this lavish mountain while on vacation, not aware of all the beauties and possibilities the whole area has to offer. In this post you will thus find everything you need to know about the mountain attractions that actually make Zlatibor so special. (more…)

WEEKEND IN SERBIA: Zlatar and Uvac National Park

There comes a moment when one would gladly escape the city and all that concrete and hide among dense trees reflecting against water surface, somewhere where it’s possible to breath in and out, where intact landscapes leave a man speechless. Even better if one can learn about the local history and culture at the same time. If you are among those, and you also like buckwheat pie or pancakes, there’s just the right place for you. Pack your bags and go to the Zlatar Mountain! (more…)

WEEKEND IN SERBIA: Negotin to Paracin, Heroes and springs
WEEKEND IN SERBIA: Negotin to Paracin, Heroes and springs

There’s no surprise there when you learn that on the way from Negotin to Paracin town in Eastern Serbia there will be traces of rich history to admire, but the lavish nature as well. It’s always like that when you go around Serbia! The distance between the two towns is less than 160 km which can easily be covered in a couple of hours, but one just has to make so many stops in order to see everything in this area – that I needed a sleepover on the way. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible to visit even a small part! (more…)

Bali Indonesia: MONKEYS, PYTHONS AND TIGERS (8)
Bali Indonesia: MONKEYS, PYTHONS AND TIGERS (8)

I can’t finish this series without dedicating one post to animals. All of you probably know stories about monkeys at the Monkey Forest or the Uluwatu Temple complex where they often take sunglasses or cameras from visitors. I have told you already that you should buy fruit before taking a walk towards the actual temple. Monkeys are believed to be guarding this holy complex, so they are not to be disturbed. You will come across them sitting on the fortified walls, peacefully, like waiting to be given some treat. (more…)

Bali Indonesia: FOOD, VOLCANO AND RICE FIELDS (7)
Bali Indonesia: FOOD, VOLCANO AND RICE FIELDS (7)

Bali is special in a lot of ways. I don’t usually write about food when traveling, but the Balinese colorful markets, such variety of fruit and spices, along with few unusual meals I had on the island, came to be truly memorable. (more…)

Bali Indonesia: WHAT TO BUY (6)
Bali Indonesia: WHAT TO BUY (6)

Okay, so we have covered the most popular places to visit in Bali so far, famous temples being among the first. And I did mention few things I bought in Bali, but I feel I should dedicate the whole post to souvenirs and things to bring from the island. Why? Well, maybe because I was surprised by few places I got to visit here. But also, because none of these things were expensive and they do help the community and local craftsmen. (more…)
