Okay, so we have visited few historic locations so far, learned a couple of myths, but even though there is a lot still to come, it’s time to take a break. I am sure you will agree after checking out these Rhodes’ beaches! And yes, even I need a rest from time to time, believe it or not, and have to remind myself to slow down, since I am totally restless when coming to “new lands”. While rushing around Rhodes these days a friend said that “it wouldn’t be hard to picture me hanging from the palm leaf just to find a better angle for a photo”! So true! (more…)
Have to admit that I was avoiding to enter the walls of the Old Town in Rhodes for days, since I have booked a walking tour with Toma, our Odeon World Travel tour guide on the island. After so many things I have already read and heard about Rhodes’ history, I didn’t want to “spoil” it. And I was right! (more…)
“Look, there, you see those two pillars with a deer and a roe deer on the top, on opposite sides of the harbor entrance? There, that is the spot where the famous Colossus of Rhodes stood, with his feet on opposite sides and boats sailing in through his legs”, our Odeon World Travel tour guide said. (more…)
Had a day or two to relax upon coming to Rhodes and decided to spend it on the beach and stroll around town’s narrow streets. On the eastern part of the island, they say, the Mediterranean Sea is usually peaceful with a wave or two. But the western coast (the Aegean side) is just too windy! If you are into surfing, you know where to go. (more…)
The moment you step onto the soil of Rhodes, it’s immediately clear why they call it the Island of the Sun. The clear sky, the unreal sea color that ranges from turquoise to dark blue, high waves that seem to send out the message that you have come to the place so alive, where nature shows off with all its beauty and strength! Also, it’s almost always sunny. (more…)
So, let’s make it official! I have been exploring the Greek island of Rhodes for couple of days now and it’s time to start another unique series of travel Glimpses.
Since the summer is almost here, having in mind that it’s already 28 degrees Celsius on the island, this is the perfect location to step into the official summer with, the summer that starts on June 21 to be exact.
But, do not be fooled, Rhodes is not “just another beachy” place, it’s so full of history and rich in ancient events which actually represent few major breaking points for what Europe came out to be today. So, join me in exploring the island, learning and writing about the place, while having Greek coffee in different parts of it! (more…)
One of the seemingly most popular attractions when I was there, was the so called Singapore’s Night Safari. Well, “while in Singapore”, right! I have stumbled upon this tour numerous times when I was reading about the city, planning to travel there, so thought it wouldn’t hurt to try. (more…)
Speaking of parks and vegetation, it should be mentioned that there are all sorts of tropical plants in Singapore due to warm and humid climate. The city is actually well famous for its field of orchids. Proud of their natural resources, people from Singapore turned vast portions of land into gardens. Botanic gardens stretch along 52 hectares of land, not that far from the city center, housing some of the extremely rare and respected species. Among them there are the National Orchid Garden, the Ginger Garden and the Evolution Garden. (more…)
